Nestled in the rolling hills of the picture—postcard perfect tourist destination that is the Isle of Wight, Pigsty Farm is 17 acres of tranquility.
A working farm, with free-range hens, goats and sheep, and as it says on the tin, pigs, it has a dual function as a CIC — a Community Interest Company with a mission as a Social Enterprise. info@pigstyfarm.org.uk
Becky, the farmer, is a former Army-lifer and her partner a career RAF helicopter pilot. Both have a long tradition of working with military charities invested in mental health and wellbeing. It was a natural step to utilise the farm for the synchronicity of connecting Veterans and shepherding their mental wellbeing.
A few years in now, in addition to livestock, the farm caters for disadvantaged youngsters, folk who perhaps get disconnected from life and groups as diverse as the local scouts to kids’ activities. It is now ready to gear up. With a 50-birth camp site, ideas for a school of Creative Expression for mental health, plans for functional buildings for safeguarding, comfort and security, the farm, and with it the CIC are evolving into a new and bright future.
Welcome to PIGSTY FARM
ISLE OF wiGHT
